David Michael Kornik
Born and raised in a small town in Massachusetts, Dave began drawing at a very early age. Recognizing his love of art, he started his art training as a child and continued until he graduated from The Art Institute of Boston with a BFA.
Upon graduation he was recruited by Foster Grant Sunglasses as their Art Director. During this time he created art for magazines, commercials as well as shows and exhibitions. In 1987 he and his wife Julia started their own design agency creating innovative and award winning designs for their internationally recognized cliental.
After over a decade in the graphic design art world, Dave and his wife moved to Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, where he began to explore new horizons in painting. Drawn to images with strong highlights, deep shadows and vivid colours, his present style emerged. Influenced by the classic illustrators such as Norman Rockwell, Bernie Fuchs and Michael Dudash, Dave’s acrylic paintings reflect the world as he sees it-bold, colourful and beautiful.
